Thank you for confirming the model number of the device. Please follow the below steps and check: > Open Settings icon > Tap Display > Scroll down and tap Edge Screen > If Edge Lighting isn’t already turned on, tap the status switch to it on.
> Show Edge lighting >> choose the application(select app and toggle on for which application you want edge lighting)
Note: Some notifications may not display as the edge lighting depending on the notification types.
> To customize Edge Lighting, tap Edge Lighting > To change the appearance of the lighting effect, tap Edge Lighting Style > Tap Effect > Tap the effect you wish to use > To change the color of the effect, tap Colour > Tap the color you wish to use > When you have made all your changes, tap Done > The edge of the screen will light up when a notification arrives.
I had the same issue, but I found that if you simply uninstall messenger when your edge lighting is still on, close all applications then reinstall it, it will start working.
