Galaxy SHi Hars,
Rooting disables some of the built-in security features of the operating system, and those security features are part of what keeps the operating system safe, and your data secure from exposure or corruption.
Please note that the rooting of the device will void the Samsung warranty.
Most of the Samsung devices are Secured by Knox. If you root your device, you trip the Knox Warranty bit. Knox services do not run on devices that have tripped the Warranty bit, because this indicates a device is rooted and flashed with an unofficial Android build. This security risk means that Knox can no longer ensure your data is protected.

Galaxy SHi, We can't say with any certainty that what a software malfunction due to rooting could cause the damage to device hardware. Hence, there could be a possible damage to hardware side of the device as well.
