Galaxy SI got my s23 Ultra today and the facial recognition will not unlock the phone. I've tried all the suggested fixes. I never, ever, had anything like this with a 3 year old iPhone. Very disappointing. Countless posts online about the same issue. Great hardware on the phone but we can't figure out how to recognize the face??

Galaxy SI personally have zero issues with face unlock. I have registered one time without a hat and a second time with a hat. Both times, at around 70%, it also asked me to remove my glasses.
We cannot compare the face unlock feature on android with iPhone as Apple has implemented the 3D scan which is much more secure and accurate. While on android, it is basically only with a "picture" of your face.
I'd suggest using the fingerprint scanner.

Galaxy SHi FlUser22, we're sorry to hear that you are facing an issue with the facial recognition feature. As Deeezzyyy have mentioned, accessories such as glasses, hats, masks, or makeup might affect the recognition process.
There are two solutions that you may take to solve the issue:
- Use 'Add alternative appearance to enhance recognition' in the 'Biometrics' settings page. This is particularly useful when you are wearing face or head accessories or makeup that might make your appearance slightly different compared to when you initially registered your face.
- Turn off 'Require open eyes' and turn on 'Brighten screen' toggles. Turning on and off these toggles will help make the recognition process faster in any condition.
You may also try deleting your registered face and redo the face registration process if the two solutions above don't work. If the issue is still persistent, please bring your device to an authorized Samsung technician to check if the issue is related to hardware.
