Did you know that your Samsung smartphone has FM chip built in? That chip has not been activated by your carriers (BIG 3). Disabling chip makes you buy bigger data package sometimes also pay additional dollars for overuse. Samsung has done its part by adding FM receiver chip to their phones; now its Service providers obligation to Re-enable that chip in their devices.

from what I know the Canadian variants don't have the chip. The US ones have

Mine is from Telus. Canadian carriers have disable it. I flashed us firmware on Telus phone and fm is now working.

how did you do that? bootloaders are not the same

If you have Qualcomm chip on your phone, you can flash any Qualcomm based firmwares.

I do have Qualcomm chip, but I've seen that Canadian baseband are not the same than the US ones, so I didn't take the risk. You flashed only the AP in Odin, or the other files too? And which firmware did you use? I did a lot of research tonight but I couldn't find any clear procedure for this

If you did you research to get into beta. Don't do it. I tried. conclusion is if you don't have their sim card they won't push update.

It works like a charm. I lost Samsung Members "community" section (was able to download the apk, but no access to community), and no Smart Call function, but I downloaded Hiya. Now, FM tuner is unlocked. Thanks
