I'm hoping for some help on what appears to be an extremely rare issue. I've had an S8+ for less than a month and from the very start I have been receiving push notifications from my apps when my device is not connected to the internet (data or WiFi). The only time this happens though is when my device is near a recognized WiFi network (Home or work as an example). I have talked to multiple members of the Samsung support staff to the point they had me send my device to a repair shop to have them look at it and I am still having this issue. I thought initially it was when I transferred all my data from my S7 so I did a factory reset and downloaded all my apps contacts, photos and other stuff manually and still had the issues. I then took it to the local Samsung store to have a tech look at it and he had no idea how it was happening. Then I contacted Samsung customer service and that's when they had me send my device away to their repair shop. I got it back yesterday and again, I'm still having the same issues. I really have no clue what is going on. Just to clarify, I want these notifications and had set my device up to receive them. I just don't want to receive them at 2 in the morning when my phone is on my night stand when I use it as an alarm clock and the data and WiFi settings hvae been turned off. Currently I'm using the do not disturb setting but I shouldn't have to right?

Hey @SteveB1976, could you check if the application requires internet to give notification or not? Thanks!

It's multiple apps such as ESPN, Instagram, Facebook and a few others that are giving me these issues and I believe those require a internet connection for them to give me notifications. That being said, how do I find out if an app needs an internet connection for it to give me notifications?

@SteveB1976 Looking at this issue - I use Do Not Disturb with custom settings to allow certain things to be available when DND is enabled - I also use Battery Widget Reborn to auto disable WiFi (data needs to be turned off manually since lollipop I believe) But with Battery Widget Reborn you can also select what you want to be muted - See the attached screen shots - I hope this will help 🐧

For the time being, I do use the do not disturb feature and it works. The problem for me is, something is wrong with my device and I think it's something internally. When I paid what I did for the device, I think it shouldn't have issues like the one I'm having. I've got friends and relatives that have the exact same device and they don't have any issues like this with theirs which makes me think it's a manufacturers defect. Problem is, Samsung had me send my device to their repair shop to get fixed and whatever was done did not address the issue I was having.

Well if the issue can't be resolved - Samsung should replace the phone under warranty 🐧
