Ever since the new android 12 update, the currently played music doesn't show up on the always on display nor the lock screen. The music widget is turned on on aod/lock screen but everytime I try to use the widget, the phone tells me there's no music playing and to select an app. This applies to both spotify and samsung music.

Hi, Welcome to the Samsung Members Community Canada. Please perform the below steps and get back to us with the results.

Perform clear cache on your phone for both apps. To clear cache, go to Settings, swipe to, and touch Apps. Swipe to and touch the app you want. Touch Storage, and then touch Clear cache and restart the device.

i tried what you suggested both times but this still won't show music. When I tried the first method it worked for a second but then it would go into a grey screen then it would just disappear in a span of a second. I then tried the second method now it won't even show that... Any other tips I can try??

You must give permition to Samsung Music app to display notification/type of notification ->playback. In my case it works and i now have Music information on Allways on display. Regards

It sounds like a bug with Android 12 affecting the lock screen and AOD display for music apps. In the meantime, you can try using a third-party music player or widget to fix this issue. If you're into fine-tuning the music experience, tools like bpm tap can help you find the tempo of the music you're playing, even if it’s not showing on the lock screen, so you can still keep track of the rhythm!
