I got a small droplet of water in the charging port of my Galaxy S24 a few hours ago. Since then, I haven’t been able to charge it with a cable the “moisture detected” warning keeps popping up. I’ve tried what feels like everything, drying it for hours, safe mode, cache clearing, rebooting while plugged in, etc. Nothing has worked so far. I ran the diagnostics through the Samsung members app, and it said all the sensors are normal, but it completely skipped the cable testing. That makes me think the moisture sensor flag is stuck, not that there's actually any water left. Has anyone dealt with this before and fixed it at home?? I'm trying to avoid a repair center and don’t want to rely on wireless charging forever. Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you try putting your S24 in a baggy with uncooked rice or Silica packets for a few hours?

Yeah, that would be very annoying, especially when you consider the IP68 Dust & Water Resistance.. I don't get why / how people will use their phones to take videos & photos under water..

thanks for the tip! But my phone should be 100% dry by now. It's been about 20 hours and I'm still getting the water warning. I even had it in front of my fan as I slept and it's done no good. It was not a lot of water so I'm not understanding why my phone is acting up like this, the phone is less than a year old..

Try this:

Go to Settings > Apps > Toggle ON "Show System Apps" and Search for "USB Settings" and Click on it > Scroll down to Storage & CLEAR BOTH Cache & Data and Reboot.

See if that clears the Moisture Message.

How long did you leave it in the rice? It doesn't really work as well if you randomly take it out and put it back in it needs to just sit in there with the cap of the container sealed. If you're using a hair dryer do low speed and press the cold air button you don't want to overheat any thing inside. If you shake it do you hear water moving about? If so put it back in the rice and don't take it out. I would just leave it overnight. It's kind of like cooking something in the oven and constantly opening it check out the food. It's better to just keep the oven closed until it should be done and take the temperature at the end. That's the same method I use for getting water in my phone I put it in a sealed container of rice making sure that the rice totally gets the phone completely covered where you can't even see it it has to be completely buried inside there. Then I leave it sealed until such time as I think it's done and then give it some extra time. I give it a shake if I hear still hear water, I put it back in the container making sure it is completely covered in rice for several more hours.

I came in here just to say this ( responding to RedDogRabbit). I take an old peanut butter jar that's been cleaned out and put in a bunch of white rice and just let it sit in there sometimes it can take hours you have to just let it sit. It does work. Good luck!

Hi Semmisolo,

Thanks for the detailed update — we really appreciate you walking us through what you’ve already tried.

Since it’s been over 20 hours, and the device has been thoroughly air-dried after only minor exposure, it does sound like the moisture detection sensor flag may be stuck, which can happen occasionally on Galaxy devices.

If none of the previous steps have helped, we recommend visiting a Samsung Authorized Service Center to have the port inspected and the flag cleared. It’s typically a quick process, especially if there’s no physical or liquid damage.

You can find your nearest center here: Samsung Service Center Locator (Canada)

Let us know how it goes!

Yeah, trying clearing the Cache & Data for USB Settings..and Reboot, BEFORE you bother with a Samsung Service Centre!
