PSA: Samsung disabled BT LE audio and LC3 codec in the Canadian OneUI 6

Just leaving this as an FYI here for anyone wondering.

Samsung has, for some bizarre decision, disabled the LC3 codec and LE Audio for Bluetooth devices in OneUI 6.

It is available in other variants of devices such as global (B variants) and USA (U and U1). 

You would be able to find LE Audio options under the development settings but it's not there. Neither is the LC3 codec. 

Samsung if you're reading this please enable the codec for Canadian devices.

Canadian S24 Ultra. LE toggle does not work and LC3 is missing as well. Please fix this Samsung.

My S23U (SM-S918B/DS) with One UI 6.1 identifies the Bose QC Ultra earbuds as LE, but the LC3 option isn't displayed in Developer options either. Needless to say, the Opus codec option is also missing.

I think I'm done with Samsung devices. I don't know why they hamstring their devices by region. If a feature is available for that OS version and supported by the hardware why would u disable it for your users?? Will be looking for a less restrictive handset manufacturer for my next upgrade. Official reply was in 2023 stating they will pass on to dev team. Been almost a year with no action.

Hmm.. I'm sitting here with a list of Samsung phones that hearing aid manufacturer Oticon recommends to support Bluetooth LE Audio with their new Intent line of hearing aids, and you're telling me that Samsung Canada has them all locked out by region?! Oh, well. I guess my string of Samsung phones has come to an end. You could have sold me S23 or newer today, Samsung! I'm off to look at Google Pixels... 😠

Also not available on Australian devices. These are expensive top of the line models - if the units are capable, the features should be enabled across the board. There is no licensing fees for these technologies as far as I am aware, also, so there is no excuse here - Samsung, please support your loyal customers especially of top tier products - if you keep abusing and taking customers for granted without offering real support and reward and abuse your relationship you will lose clients.

Update: this seems to be available in S25 Ultra Canadian version, SM-S938W.

Sony app reports it's connected with LE audio and using LC3. Audio quality is very good, but can't really differentiate it from AAC.
