Random apps minimizing on S24 Ultra

I'm experiencing a very frustrating issue with my Samsung S24 Ultra, which I purchased about a month ago. After a recent software update, my phone randomly minimizes apps to the background and returns to the Home screen. This happens while I'm actively using apps like Outlook, YouTube, and Google Maps in Navigation mode. I can bring the app back by pressing the Recent Apps button, but this shouldn't be happening.
I'm using the screen protector that came with the phone, so I'm not sure if that's contributing to the problem, but it feels like the Home button is being randomly pressed. I'm concerned that this might be a software bug related to the update, or possibly a hardware defect.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? What troubleshooting steps can I take? If this is a hardware problem, what is the process for checking for defects or initiating a warranty claim?
Thanks for your help.

I have a S24 - not the ultra but do have the S25 ultra and I have not seen any screen protectors installed on any of the devices I have bought so suggest you take whatever is on your device - off and see if it helps.

If you think it is possibly caused from the update you should boot into recovery and wipe the cache and see if that helps

Pretty sure it is not a hardware defect

To clarify, the glass screen protector which I installed was provided with the phone.. I tried cleaning up the cache partition and it didn't help.

Hi Vladon,

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your Galaxy S24 Ultra. We understand how frustrating this issue must be for you.

Since you have already tried performing wiping the cache partition, but still the issue persists, please try the below potential solutions and see if they might help to fix the issue.

Restart Your Device. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve unexpected glitches.

Safe Mode: Boot your phone into Safe Mode (Press and hold the Power button, then long-press "Power off" and select Safe Mode). This disables third-party apps. If the problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it might be an app causing the issue.

Even if the protector came with the device, try removing it temporarily to rule out any possibility of phantom touches caused by improper installation or sensitivity issues. Please try removing it temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.

If none of the above steps work, please back up your data and perform a factory reset. This can resolve more persistent software issues.

Thanks. Removing the screen protector didn't fix the issue. I can't reset the phone, because it is a company provided phone. Also, the wireless group support at my company told me it is a known issue. In fact, the support person assigned to my case told me he is experiencing exactly the same issue.

My Wireless team at work is saying it is a Crowdstrike issue, and they logged a defect with Crowdstrike. I am not so sure, but it is super annoying.

Hi,

I'm experiencing the very same on the same phone but older model (galaxy ultra s20) and I'm pretty sure it's a bug. This didn't start to happen until a recent update but it's been at least a couple of months and a couple of update since and it does not appear to be resolved. It happens when I start an app, while in the middle of typing and appears to be totally random. Super frustrating. I do not have a screen protector btw.

also have this issue, but for me it seems to only happen randomly in the evening. not a work phone, so no random work security software. have a screen protector but have had this since launch of the phone last year and it only started happening fairly recently. seems to be around the time of the oneui 7 Android 15 update.
