Started having issues with the camera after the November software update. Camera app will crash moments after launching, give a blank screen and unresponsive controls, or just give a black screen. Camera will work in other apps that use it (snapchat, Instagram, Discord) for 10-20 seconds before freezing, going blank, and showing a message about not being able to communicate with the camera. A restart will bring the camera back temporarily, but it always happens again.

Issue persists in safe mode so I believe the problem to be with either the camera's own firmware or the camera unit itself.

I've tried every troubleshooting step that I've found so far, including clearing camera app and whole device cache, testing in safe mode, and even a full factory reset. None of these methods fixed my problem.

Since you have already tried wiping cache & data for the camera, as well as wiping cache from recovery, & a factory reset, I'd test the camera using the the interactive tests on the samsung members app. It might tell you if there's a problem with the camera itself.

I'm having the same issue. snapchat or just the camera. I get a blank black screen then the app closes.

Hi, You could perform it by following the path below.

Open Samsung Members app >> Get Help >> Interactive Checks >> Select Camera. Please try this and get back to us with the result.
