Hi everyone. I do not know if this is limited to me but after the newest Android update (pictured) I have had degraded gaming performance and my phone running hotter than ever! E.G Minecraft used to run at 120FPS never dipping and maximum 40C and now it runs barely at 60FPS 44C with GPU usage never going above 60% as for Call of Duty: mobile this game used to run at 90FPS lowest setting and now it does not reach 60FPS and has the same GPU usage as mentioned above. Can anyone confirm similar findings?

FYI the FPS, GPU usage and temperature were measured using Samsung's built in software.

Hi manyukonsumer,

We understand how frustrating performance issues can be, especially after a software update. If you're experiencing degraded performance on your Galaxy S21 Ultra, here are some steps to help optimize your device:

A simple restart can help clear temporary system issues caused by the update.

Wipe Cache Partition is recommended after updates.

  1. Turn off your device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up + Power buttons until the Samsung logo appears.
  3. Use the Volume buttons to navigate to Wipe Cache Partition and press the Power button to confirm.
  4. Select Yes, then reboot your device.

Check Background Apps & Battery Settings: Settings > Battery & Device Care > Battery > Background Usage Limits → Restrict unnecessary apps. Settings > Battery & Device Care > Memory → Clear unnecessary processes.

Game & Performance Optimizations: If you notice lower FPS in games, check Game Booster settings in Game Launcher. Consider toggling "Alternate Game Performance Management" in Game Booster Labs.

If your device is overheating or lagging, use Good Guardians (Thermal Guardian) from the Galaxy Store to manage temperature settings.

Boot Into Safe Mode check for app conflicts: Press and hold Power > Tap and hold "Power Off" > Select Safe Mode. If performance improves, a third-party app may be causing the issue.

Thank you.

Thanks for you reply but please mention that you need to plug in your phone to a PC to go into recovery mode and it did not fix the issue.

Is that unique to the S21? Because plugging the device into a PC wasn't required for my S10, S22 and S25.

I have heard that it is a feature for certain market models. Mine is a UK model.

Do you mean after the update? Because I installed this update nearly a month ago now.
