Galaxy SI always Boot into Recovery after any Security Patch Update & Wipe Cache. See if that works for you.
Here's the instructions for Wiping Both Cache and a Factory Reset if you want.
Power of your device & Wait a few seconds.
Press & HOLD the Power + Volume UP buttons, until you feel the device vibrate. Release BOTH buttons & wait a couple of seconds until you see the Recovery Menu.
Use the Volume button to Scroll down to Wipe Cache & Select with the Power button.
Wait a few seconds until the Recovery Menu Defaults to "Restart Now" & Select with the Power Button.
Your device will Reboot.
Factory Reset is the same as above, but instead of Selecting Wipe Cache, you Select Wipe Data Factory Reset.
⚠️⚠️⚠️
BEFORE you Factory Reset, BACKUP your device with Smart Switch.
When your device Boots up, it will be to the Welcome screen, same as when you first received your device as new.
⚠️You'll need to know your passwords etc, So write them down if you need to⚠️

Galaxy SYou can always check the Battery's health using the Samsung Members app. Click on Support & Diagnostics, run the Diagnostics for the Battery and see it's health.
If the battery is "good", and you are pretty sure that it's draining faster than usual.. Short of visiting a Samsung Service center, or replacing the battery, a Factory is what I would do.

Galaxy SIf you backup your device with Smart Switch, it's actually not too bad.
I have a bunch of apps that require me to use adb to enable them to work, and even with that, it doesn't take long to get my device back to how I want it.
Just make sure that you either select "All" or if you use Custom backup in Smart Switch, that you tick everything that you want backed up.
If you're nervous about important files, photos etc, you could always copy them to your computer before you Factory Reset, but I have never lost anything with Smart Switch.

Galaxy SThank you RedDogRabbit.
Hi, as suggested by RedDogRabbit, please perform Wipe cache partition and if it doesn't resolve the battery draining issue, kindly back up and factory reset your device by following the steps in the given links.
