Samsung Galaxy S7 display only works if I warm it up. Otherwise, all but they top 1cm of the display is black. If I blow dry the phone or put heating pad on the top edge of the phone the display is perfect.

What can I  do to fix the display? Why would warmth make the display work?

Take it to the Samsung Experience Store to check your phone. Or take it to authorized Samsung service shop to check your phone. Obviously some screen contacts have problem. Need to do an in person inspection. This is my recommendation.

I realise this thread is from several years ago but I don't really care to be honest. I have the exact same issue with an S7. If I heat it up it works perfectly. As it cools the screen starts to flicker and eventually only the top few mm of the screen works (perfectly, I might add) and the rest of the screen is black. It first happened a few months ago and I thought I got it working by squeezing the screen all over but I now realise that it was during a hot spell of weather that it started working again. It has been fine for months but has now got the same problem again, possibly because the weather has turned cold here. As somebody else mentioned I think there is a bad contact somewhere and as things get hot and expand it becomes a good contact again, until it gets cold and contracts. I can't find much about this problem online apart from the usual unhelpful suggestions to take it to be repaired by an engineer - I can figure that out myself.
