I can't believe how easily the glass on the back of my phone broke! it was in my pocket at the time, when I bent down to pick something up and I heard a little crack. there was a spider web crack that started on the edge about an inch up from the bottom corner. the next day while sitting at work the crack got much worse!

I thought these phones were supposed to be made of the best gorilla glass. how can such an expensive product be stop shoddy? with how expensive the product was I'm hesitant to replace the glass which is a safety hazard now as glass is falling out of it. I'll probably just avoid samsung going forward.

Doesnt matter how tough a phone is if your not taking care of it properly it will break . My question is does it have a case protector?? . Just for the info most cp now are made of glass , so beware of how to use it.

@kebrough, was the phone in your pants pocket? when you bent down to pick something up, could the phone have bent while you were bent over? over the years I've seen a lot screens crack from being in the back pocket from when people bend over as the phone will tend to bend in the back pocket.

"I'll probably just avoid samaing going forward" Ok. Anyways...

Scratches significantly decrease the durability of gorilla glass. Combine that with the pressure of bending over with maybe a small rock in your pocket, it's a recipe for disaster.

If glass is really falling out of your phone it would be extremely stupid to not get it replaced as this leaves you in danger of cutting yourself, or getting the internals of the phone damaged even further damaging your device.

I suggest you go to the nearest Samsung service center and explain what happened. Hopefully your S8 is still under warranty, and hopefully you do get the glass replaced sooner rather than later.

Nothing is bullet proof - I'd just contact your Carrier / Samsung for warranty 🐧

physical damage/neglect is not usually covered with the warranty. my recommendation would be to replace the back screen which can be done on your own through a YouTube video. It is pretty cheap to order a back screen online and would take you about 15 minutes to repair it.

If you have Device Protection it should be covered..

The S8 glass is very hard, making its scratch resistance much better. Unfortunately the harder glass is more brittle, making it easier to crack. I cracked my front screen glass only a few days after I got it. And it's very expensive to repair.

Samsung increased the thickness of the S9 screen glass by 20%.

Hey @kebrough, please contact your local Samsung Service Center (http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/servicelocation/) for screen repair. Thanks!
