I set up events in my calendar through my hotmail email account in the Samsung calendar app on my phone Samsung s23 Ultra. For years, it would always sync automatically between devices and online hotmail. It has been few weeks, even if I manually use sync button in the calendar, it does not sync the events between devices and online.

For example, If I set up a meeting in my hotmail calendar online, it will not show up in my Samsumg calendar app on my phone, but it will send invites to those included in the meeting. If I set up a meeting in my Samsung calendar app, it will not show up on other devices and online and will not send the invites to those included in the meeting.

I saw that Microsoft is pushing users to use thier original Outlook app. But it is not user friendly and I would like to continue using the Samsung calendar. Is there a solution to keep as is and have the syncing working again?

Hi JV11,

It sounds like the sync between your Hotmail and the Samsung Calendar app has been disrupted, likely due to changes in Microsoft’s synchronization policies or settings. Please try the below few steps to restore sync functionality in the Samsung Calendar.

Check Sync Settings: Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts, select your Hotmail account, and ensure Sync Calendar is enabled.

Remove and Re-add Account: Remove your Hotmail account and then re-add it to refresh the connection.

Clear Calendar App Cache: Go to Settings > Apps > Calendar, then Storage, and clear the cache and data.

Check Permissions: Ensure the Calendar app has the necessary permissions under Settings > Apps > Calendar > Permissions.

While the Outlook app itself may not be your preferred interface, you can still use it only for syncing your calendar. The events will then sync with the Samsung Calendar app while you continue using it as your primary interface.

  • Install the Microsoft Outlook app from the Play Store.
  • Log in with your Hotmail account and ensure Calendar sync is enabled.
  • Allow a few minutes to pass and see if your events now appear in Samsung Calendar.

Thank you.
