Galaxy SHi pckman, Welcome to the Samsung Members Community Canada.
Your data is backed up automatically once every 24 hours, as long as your phone or tablet is charging and connected to a Wi-Fi network. The screen also needs to be off for at least an hour. You can also customize what files are automatically backed up.
Note: Content will not automatically back up if the cloud storage is full. From Settings, tap your name, and then tap Samsung Cloud.
Note: When backing up data for the first time, you may need to tap No backups instead.
Tap More options (the three vertical dots), and then tap Settings.
Tap Sync and auto-backup settings, and then tap the Auto back up the tab.
Here, you can adjust which options get backed up automatically; tap the switch next to your desired apps.

Galaxy SHi pckman, Samsung cloud doesn't back up third-party apps. Here is how you can sync your photos and videos to OneDrive. Simply navigate to and open the Gallery app, and then tap the Menu icon (the three horizontal lines) at the bottom of the screen. Tap Settings, and then tap the switch next to "Sync with OneDrive" to enable the sync.

Galaxy SI use Samsung to back up everything it allows like Messages, contacts etc. But for Photos and Videos you need to use either Google Photos or MS Onedrive. One drive is nice because it is completely integrated within Samsung Gallery. Just activate it. Google Photos is nice because it is part of Google... so you may find it is easier to access on other devices etc. Google used to be free but they stopped providing free storage in June of this year.
