Recently made the full jump from iOS to Android with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. As I was setting up, I naturally assumed features like app lock would be available—especially in 2025. iOS has nailed it for a while now, and I honestly didn’t think to even check if Android or Samsung offered it. To my surprise, there’s still no native app lock feature, just the old-school “Secure Folder” workaround that feels like a relic from the early 2000s.

Really didn’t expect to miss something this basic, but it’s now officially on my growing list of regrets since making the switch. Please, Samsung/Google—bring native app locking without forcing users to rely on third-party solutions. It’s such a core privacy feature, and long overdue.

While I might agree that a native app lock would be a welcome feature, I would object strenuously to your characterization of Secure Folder being a "relic from the early 2000s" .

Global certifications:

Knox has achieved more global government security and third-party analyst certifications than ANY OTHER device, platform, or operating system.

User-centric security:

Knox also offers user-centric security features, such as Knox Vault, which is a separate processor and memory unit that isolates sensitive data from the rest of the device.

But how is that any different than apples secure enclave chip, that also seperates sensitive info from the system and data. They both do the same thing, faceid/touchid also gets disabled if you downgrade iOS on a jailbroken device without the correct SEP version or blobs saved. Apple Pay I think also refuses to work but this one I don't know for sure.

Just this..

"Knox has achieved more global government security and third-party analyst certifications than ANY OTHER device, platform, or operating system."... iPhone, can't make this claim..

Here you go
https://www.theverge.com/2024/7/19/24201935/fbi-trump-rally-shooter-phone-thomas-matthew-crooks-cell...

It failed on the pixels and iPhones that they tested this on in the past, but they managed to successfully get into the Samsung phone in just 40 minutes, yep "so secure" yes it was also running the latest software at the time and a newer phone. So one ui 6 at the time.

Also a headline text from PCMag. "The FBI used tech from Cellebrite, which had to provide the agency with unreleased software. Had the shooter used a newer iPhone, the feds may have been out of luck, leaked documents suggest."

If the FBI or Israeli Intel wants to get into my phone, then I likely have bigger problems to deal with! 😂

True, but the only tool that works on iPhone is Pegasus, whereas android phones like Samsung have a few more that work which does signify weaker security.

Hi stylepil,

Welcome to the Galaxy family, and thank you for sharing your experience we truly value feedback like this.

While Secure Folder offers strong privacy and encryption, we understand many users are looking for a more straightforward, native app lock option. Your suggestion is absolutely valid, and we’ll be sure to pass it along to our development teams.
