Galaxy SFor about 2 weeks my talk to text is not working. Just doesn't recognize I am speaking. Same when I field a regular phone call. My translation app works fine and speaker phone calls work fine. I've tried gboard and Samsung keyboards. All settings are set as they should be. Do I have a hardware issue? Does the keyboard and phone call use different mics? This is very frustrating because I use speak to text a lot! Please help!

Galaxy SHi cmurf70,
We understand how frustrating this can be, and we're sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.
Yes, your S24 Ultra uses different microphones for voice input, phone calls, and speakerphone. Since talk-to-text and regular calls aren’t detecting your voice, but speakerphone and translation apps are working, it’s possible the bottom microphone is faulty.
Here’s what we recommend:
1. Run a Mic Test
Open the Samsung Members app > Support > Phone diagnostics > Mic – this will confirm whether the mic is functioning properly.
2. Try Safe Mode
Hold Power, then tap and hold Restart > select Safe Mode. Once in Safe Mode, test voice typing. If it works, a third-party app may be interfering.
3. Check Microphone Permissions
Go to Settings > Apps > Gboard / Samsung Keyboard > Permissions, and ensure Microphone is allowed.
If the mic test fails, this points to a hardware issue, and we recommend visiting a Samsung Authorized Service Center for further support: https://www.samsung.com/ca/support/service-center/
Let us know how it goes!
