If someone texts me while I'm driving, the phone automatically marks it as read amd the notification doesnt stay on my screen. I'm not reading my texts while driving, but since the notification doesn't stay on my screen, I miss alot of messages and don't see them till way way later. How do I correct this?

Read receipts are already turned off

Phone is S23 Ultra

Interesting, but it doesn't happen on my S23 Ultra. Whenever I open my text page on my phone after I stop driving, I still see those text messages received during my driving period are marked as unread (with red dot on each unread text messages).
On my message settings, I keep chat message On and the notification icon On ( located on right-bottom coner). 1704214681484.jpg

That's odd..

That little toggle switch thing doesn't show up on mine. This is what it looks like for me within the individual message settings and overall message settings doesn't have it either

Maybe it's RCS related and you don't have that enabled on your phone?

I upgraded my phone and my watch at the same time and transferred my phone's configurations from my previous Galaxy Note 8 and my new Galaxy watch 6 from my old watch 2. Maybe old configurations are kept in my new S23 Ultra and watch 6 now. I configured my watch to keep messages as unread, although I read from watch. Still works as that way.

If you're using Samsung's Messages, download Google Messages from the Play Store & set it as your Default Messaging app.

See if that fixes the issue for you.

Hi, we request you to please follow the below steps once and check.

You can adjust your notification settings to keep messages visible on your screen while driving. On your S23 Ultra, go to Settings, then Notifications, and find the messaging app.

Look for options like "Lock screen" or "Pop-up display" and enable them to ensure notifications stay visible even if marked as read.
