I wanted to transfer edited photos to my pc using usb cable but when I open the DCIM folder on my computer I only see the original. Where can I find the edited photos?

When you edit a picture, if you overwrite the original, the edited image will stay in the original folder that it was originally stored in. If you chose to save it as a copy it would be under DCIM > photo editor

It's there on my phone in DCIM/Camera but when I open them through my file explorer on my pc to transfer them by plugging my phone through usb cable it's the originals that are shown. I did not save a copy I just clicked "done".

Whatever photo you edited. If you just clicked done. It overwrites the original. So that photo that you wanted to edit after edit is the same photo

There is a way to go from the edited photo to the original. You can revert to the original unedited image through edit and revert image.

If you see that on the photo you edited it means that your edited saved photo has overwritten the original photo

Since you clicked done. It means it is the same file.

I know how it works. My problem is what I stated before that through the PC windows 10 in file explorer the files in DCIM/Camera are the originals not the edited ones. If I go in Samsung file explorer or my own file explorer app on my phone and open them in that same folder it's the edited photos. Do you understand what I'm explaining? It's like what we see in the phone (edited photos) might have a data file linked to the original (which would enable the revert option) but when you go through windows 10 it sees what is really there in the folder i.e. the original. I hope it's not that because that means that when you backup your phone to the pc (copying the SD card where my photos are stored) you are left with originals and not the edited version. There is nothing in the phone Internal Storage DCIM except for screenshots.

Yeah i get you. What you're telling me, well really now I'm not sure. File name should be the same so maybe the file seen on pc is the edited photo. But again not too certain. Hope someone who knows more will have a solution/answer for you.

Did you use smartswitch. Easiest way to back up data. And for sure every file backed upwill be the same on pc as on phone

I use smartswitch for full backups but this is to restore to a phone. At the moment I have different pictures that I cropped and added text that I now need to assemble on one page on my pc so smartswitch doesn't help there. But thanks for trying to help.
