Galaxy ZFor reference, see the new Tab S11 at 6:31 in this video: https://youtu.be/mDUTLF7q5JM
?si=2vjL-ZyVs8AtqJPw&t=391
Switching an app from full-screen to windowed mode toggles DeX, complete with multiple virtual desktop support and a real taskbar (not a pseudo taskbar like on the Fold with floating window.
I posted about this sort of interface on the Z Fold some four years ago now: https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-z/dex-on-fold-s-inner-display/td-p/13827668 That thread has hundreds of likes and comments, and there have been a number of supportive videos and articles requesting the same from Samsung.
With the new Tab interface to switch into DeX on device like what's shown in the video above, there's no excuse for not having the same UI on the Z Fold's inner display aside from Samsung being either a) lazy, or b) anti-consumer.
Between this long-standing deficiency, removing Bluetooth functionality from the S Pen, and removing S Pen support entirely from the Z Fold, it's like Samsung never wants me to buy another Z Fold. I'm happy to oblige.
Edit: Apparently this new DeX is limited to 5 windows per "workspace" - why the regression? I've used DeX for years with more than 5 windows at a time.
Samsung has no idea what they're doing anymore. It's baffling.
