Hello, Samsung programmers and my fellow Samsung community,

I use the Messages app a lot. Generally, I love it. However, occasionally, a wayward finger or inattentive thumb will accidentally swipe left or right on a conversation in the inbox. Apparently, this archives whatever conversation you might have been touching, and was really scary the first time it happened, since years of personal messages with my wife instantly disappeared, including funny exchanges and stories about our kids while I was away with the military or while she was working overtime in the hospital during the pandemic. I eventually figured out how to get them back, but regardless, this still happens often enough with other conversations, some of whom I might miss more easily than those with my loved ones.

So, my request: please allow for that swipe option to be disabled (i.e. swiping on conversations won't do anything) or to be customized for other functions (e.g. Mark Un/Read, Pin, Snooze, Flag, Delete, Forward, Reply, etc.), similar to in some email apps.

Thank you!

Mike

If you're using Samsung's Messages, then you should switch to Google's Messages.

Samsung's Messages is deprecated.

Samsung has partnered with Google & Samsung's Moderators are advising people to switch to Google's Messaging app. So it appears that Samsung is no longer developing it's own Messages app.

Thank you RedDogRabbit.

Hi, as suggested by RedDogRabbit, we recommend you to use Google Messages instead of preloaded Samsung Messages App.

Please download from Google Play store:  Google Messages and set as default.
