OthersSamsung is refusing to change the ice maker for the second owner. I get to know that this model or models from 2014-2018 have faulty design for ice maker. Samsung lost the case and agreed to change them by the lawsuit. Samsung did not inform or make the customers aware of this recall. when I contacted them they refuse to perform the replacement as i am not the first owner.
I did not understand this part. if it is a first owner than the part is faulty and samsung will take the full responsibility to replace them. but if you area second user or you bought a house from another owner samsung will not responsible for recall. In other words, Samsung do not want to back it's own product if you are not the first owner. What kind of justice is this? Does it really make sense ? Also when i contacted they verify the product by doing the videocall and make sure that it bought from Canada and it is a genuine product.
It is like any car model is having the recall and if you are a second owner you are not qualified for the recall. I have not heard any thing like this with any other manufacturing products or companies.
Can someone put more lights on this as i am not able to understand this ?

OthersWithout getting into your situation..
Generally Recalls are for safety issues, ie: If the ice maker could start a fire, then yes I think that the Manufacturer is obligated to repair/replace.
Warranties can be transferable, but not unless explicitly stated.
If the ice maker just doesn't work, I think that you'd have a hard time with a recall, let alone a warranty if it's not transferable.

OthersRecalls on cars like rabbit said are forced on manufacturer for safety reasons. Like faulty airbags can be replaced 15 years after tye car was sold. I am sure manufacturer hate having to do it.
I know I had a recall on a F250 I owned and they pestered the *** out of me untill I got it done.
It was a fuse for the cruise cancel switch on the brake system that had caused fires.
But known defects for non safety items on the same truck were ignored like excess sand in the cooling system leading to plugged oil cooler and damaged emmision systems

OthersHi, we understand your concern.
However, as per Samsung warranty or product ownership is not transferable to second owner.
Please contact Samsung authorized service center, so that they can repair it and you will be charged for repair.

Thank you.

OthersThe ice maker on my refrigerator kept icing up so I called an appliance company and had it replaced. The new one ices up, as well. I've talked to Samsung who told me I should have had an authorized Samsung company do the replacement. My appliace company told me they had worked with Samsung on the problems with my icemaker. I agreed to pay to have a Samsung technician come out to look at the icemaker to tell me if it could be repaired or if I could get a refund of the $864 we paid for another unusable icemaker. He never came because he said the parts hadn't arrived yet. I didn't authorize any parts just the review of the problem. Samsung owes me $864 or at the very least a working icemaker at no cost to me. To sell replacement icemakers that do the same thing as the ones in the lawsuit is totally unethical. While I like my Samsung cell phone, at this point, I am unlikely to buy any Samsung products in the future.
