I did a test and put the tag 8n a community mailbox, then drove away to the shopping center. When I opened the app, it said it was "disconnected" but gave its last known location as my current location, instead of the location of the community mailbox.

The expected behavior would have been to have the phone mark the Smarttag as lost when Bluetooth signal was lost, or assumed lost at a predefined signal strength, not just "disconnected" - This never happened.

extra bits:

There is no way to mark the smarttag as lost manually. It just says disconnected.

There is no notification that I have left the tag behind, like the phone does with the S-pen.

Where is the community find feature?

Would like the option see a Google maps type of integration with the fine grain UWB location to use instead of AR. AR is neat, but its also a niche and a gimmick. Perhaps a compass instead will suffice.

Hi, please try to reset the SmartTag.

1. First, open the SmartTag’s battery cover. To do this, insert the tip of your finger or a flat object (such as a guitar pick or credit card) into the notch on the bottom of the SmartTag, and then pull until the battery cover comes off.

2. Remove the battery, and then press and hold the button on the center of the SmartTag.

3. While still holding the button down, reinsert the battery.
Note: If the device makes a sound right after inserting the battery, try these steps again.

4. Hold the button for five seconds, and then release.

5. Snap the battery covering of the tag back together. The device should now be reset.

6. If you're planning to connect the SmartTag to another phone, you'll need to remove it from the SmartThings app first. Navigate to and open SmartThings on your phone, then tap the Devices tab, and then tap the Home icon. Select your desired location, and then swipe through the rooms to find your tag.

7. Touch and hold your tag, and then tap Edit.

8. Tap Delete device, and then tap Delete to confirm. Now the SmartTag will be completely removed from SmartThings, and you can add it back or add it to another phone if desired.

This happened to me today. I was at the shops and it showed my wallet was lost 10 minutes ago on the way to the shop. Obviously I freaked went back hunting. It showed it updated with me on the walk back. I was like **bleep** I don't have it. Then it showed at home a 30 minute drive away.

Then it followed me all the way home till I found it had never left my house the whole time.

Product is practically useless with this issue...

Anything fix it for you?

Exactly the same issues here with the non plus Smart Tags. We have 2 on different cats, location history is very erroneous, and will often show their location to be WHERE WE ARE rather than their actual location. Had me driving 2 miles away looking, only to change its mind and say the kitty is home. I don't believe this is a tag issue as they only communicate with the Samsung "network".  There must be a bug in the Smart Things software for location updates to be pinging from the location of the registered smartphone rather than a ping from the Tag to a nearby device. Shame this badly let's down the system
