I use Waze for my daily commute to work and there is one issue that annoys me. The voice directions works for a while like 15-20 minutes then stoppes working all the way to the end of my trip. I uninstalled it and reinstall and still the same issue. I think it has to do with the last google security patch. Yes, the setting "Pause the activity" in permissions is off. Does anyone have this same issue? Am i missing a new setting that is still enabled by default that causes this issue?

Please try checking your phone's and car's volume (if you're using Waze through your car's speakers), check the app's sound settings and see if the Sounds is set to On.
