Hi there.  I would be grateful to get sme insight......

I own a Samsung A70.   Last evening, I was prompted with a message which looked like something you would receive after an upgrade.  I thought nothing of it and clicked yes.  It may have been a stupid thing I did because when I'm back in Samsung Internet, the URL points to "web.bwanet.ca".  I swear it did not point to this before.  The UI for Samsung Internet looks different as well.   Also, when I clicked on the "star" to access my bookmarks after, they were all gone.

Question:

1. After you click on the Samsung Internet icon, what should the URL point to? I assume not "web.bwanet.ca"

2. If I go to settings from Samsung Internet, the below is what I see. Do those look correct?

Default = http://mobilebrowser bwanet.ca/hpr/

Quick Access = Web links provided by Samsung Internet

Current Page = https://web.bwanet.ca/

3. Is "web.bwanet.ca" a malware?

I ran malwarebytes.  Nothing found. I was on the phone with Bell. They asked me to call Samsung.  I called Samsung and they did a clear cache which I did last night. No change. They did a "clear data" in Apps => Samsung Internet => Storage.  Which I'm extremely pissed about cause now I lost all my bookmarks.

4.  Are bookmarks by chance backed up? If so can they be restored?

Thank you in advance.

That bookmark is default of bell/Virgin mobile network, you were probably asked to restart to have carrier specified apps and setting applied after putting Sim card in the phone. It's not malware.

Just login with your account in the browser same as the bookmark is saved and your bookmark should be there.

Hi, Welcome to the Samsung Members Community Canada. Could you try to uninstall and re-install the Samsung Internet browser.

I just did a factory reset on my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G and restored it from a backup previously saved in my Samsung account. Now when I opened Samsung Internet or Google Chrome, I got www.bwanet.ca as default page. I did the factory reset upon recommendation by Bell tech support because of frequent dropped calls. Bell says they need to have my phone to fix after the factory reset. Google says it's a virus/spyware/hijacker. Others say it comes from Bell. It's really suspicious. I was with Rogers 4 months ago then I started getting dropped calls after switching to Bell. Anyone has similar experience or ideas on this?
