Mine never stopped working but others did have this problem. It was a problem with Pie beta also. You can try clearing data and cache on the Galaxy app, but this is one of the perils of running a beta. On Pie, it was after the final came out that the old Gear app was updated to work with the gear watches again.

not sure why you don't have it have you tried the Samsung app store?? I have the gear3 and that's where I found the app and it works well with the beta

I had to factory reset to fix other issues. the app never came back is unavailable on play and galaxy stores

there is no app. it's not available for this version of android. it didnt reinstall after a factory reset to fix my battery life.
