Step from running activity does not count in my total daily step

Hello,

I've been running using my samsung galaxy 5 watch, and the total steps that i get from running always counted towards my daily steps.

However recently i noticed the steps that i produced during my run was no longer counted towards my daily steps count. If i go to the activity/exercise, i can clearly see the total step that i have produced during my run. However this number was not recognized by daily activity, The active time and activity calories from the exercise is being counted, but not the steps.

I'm very confused how this comes to be, it just started happening from this week. Can anyone enlighten me and how do i get the steps to be counted?

This issue of running steps not being counted toward your daily step total on your Galaxy Watch 5 can be frustrating.

Check Step Tracking Settings:

  • Open the Samsung Health app on your Galaxy Watch and smartphone.
  • Go to Settings > Steps > Data to Show and ensure that both All Steps (watch + phone) or Watch Only is selected.
  • Confirm that the step source matches what you want to track.

Ensure that the Samsung Health app on your watch and phone is syncing correctly:

  1. Open Samsung Health on your phone.
  2. Tap the three dots menu > Settings > Sync with Samsung Account.
  3. Ensure your watch and phone are connected and synced.

Clear app cache and Data. On your smartphone:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Samsung Health.
  2. Tap Storage and select Clear Cache.
  3. If the issue persists, select Clear Data (this won't erase your health records, as they are synced to your Samsung account).

Restart both your watch and phone. After restarting, sync your devices again and check if the issue is resolved.
