✨New Feature available in Samsung Wallet 💳

Hey Samsung Members! 👋

Can you believe it is October already? I see the leaves changing and know that winter is around the corner. 🍁🍂

Anyway, I have some news to share. We just launched a new feature in Samsung Wallet! 💳

You can now setup a credit card as your transit card and tap you Galaxy device at a transit reader.

Even while the screen is off, the reader will detect the credit card you have designated as your transit card! 🚇🚌🚃

How simple is that? Travelling has become quicker for those commuters and transit riders! 😎🎉

Need help setting up your card? 

Steps below:

1. Open the Samsung Wallet app
2. Click on the “All” tab and under the Transit Card section tap “+ select from payment cards”.
3. You will then be prompted to a screen with a brief description of the “Transit Card” feature. Read and then click OK to continue.
4. Select the credit card linked to your Samsung Wallet that you would like to use as your default transit card. 
5. Now you are all set! Remember, you can always review your transit transactions by going back to the Transit Card section and selecting you designated transit card. 
6. The credit card assigned as a Transit Card will only work at transit terminals. Like any other transaction, it will remain in pending status until confirmed. 

Please note:

Only compatible with Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards from participating banks. 

We are working to support Interac/Debit for future Samsung Wallet updates. 👐

I think they mean while the screen is off. Ie. No need to unlock your device.

It only works for the public transit readers. I tried it at a few supermarkets and none of them worked.

The credit card assigned as a Transit Card will only work at transit terminals. It cannot be used to make other purchases in store.

Like any other transaction, it will remain in pending status until confirmed.

Hey samsung, which transit services is this compatible with? Japan seems the most likely but it's notoriously the hardest. Some details would be nice.

Japan has the largest and best public transportation system in the world, and this would be a life saver for travellers without a phone with FeliCa locked out (which is every phone not sold in japan except apple products).
Samsung: please save us and unlock FeliCa passes like pasmo and suica for people who visit Japan. I have a phone released in 2024. I shouldn't be considering an iphone for something so similar and simple to implement considering the hardware is actually internally present just shut off.

If I am holding Canadian phone and can use Samsung Pay Transit in Japan while travel, that will be fantastic. 😊 I wonder how the currency conversion works...
