Android Auto causes Secure Folder to prompt for password in order to install itself

Every. Single. Time. I get into my car my phone prompts me to enter my password to unlock my secure folder.  When I do it eagerly asks me if I want to install Android Auto.  If I say yes, it fails to install.  If I say no, it waits until the next time I get into the car to ask me again.  I don't know if this is a Secure Folder bug or an Android Auto bug, but it's driving me a little crazy.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with all available updates.  My car, if that is important, is a BMW M235i, which was one of the first BMW cars to support Android Auto.  I've seen similar issues reported here and elsewhere, but none that have tied it to Android Auto.  This has been going on for quite some time, so I'm absolutely sure that Android Auto and nothing else is the instigator of this problem.  I have not found any setting that would seem to govern this behavior.  I thought of trying to turn off some kind of notifications, but there is no obvious app, and this doesn't behave like a notification in any event.  If you need a bug report, let me know, and I'll capture it the next time it happens.

Which option is selected for auto lock secure folder in your phone ? select the option to when for restarts.
or you can uninstall the secure folder -- setting > secure folder > more settings > uninstall

Auto lock Secure Folder is set to "Lock automatically when screen turns off".  I use Secure Folder, so this is what I want it to be set to.  Other than getting in my car, the only time I am prompted to enter my Secure Folder password is when I want to get into my Secure Folder.

I think that might be causing the issue because everytime screen shuts off, secure folder lock comes on and it is preventing android auto to access the folder that contains song

I don't use it for songs.  I didn't ask the car to look for songs there.  if you look at the initial post, you'll see that what is wants to do is install Android Auto in my Secure Folder.  And it fails if I try to do so. 

You bring up a good point, however.  Before Android Auto was even in the picture, I would occasionally get into the car and find that the car started playing sound from the last video I was watching at in my Secure Folder.  While the Secure Folder was locked and all relevant apps were closed!!  You can imagine that there could be videos that you didn't want played for everyone in the family to watch or listen to.  Not very secure. 

As I pointed out above though, I don't think that is what is going on here, since what it appears to be trying to do is install itself.  As I see it, the issue is this:

• Android Auto shouldn't be trying to install itself in the Secure Folder (or the Samsung phone shouldn't be allowing it do) every single time I use it.  And even then, there should be a way to say "No, and don't ask me again."

okay, basically you don't want android auto to be installed IN secure folder but it keeps asking you anyway and everytime you connect your phone to the car ?
here's my question - are you using android auto for anything or you do not want to use android auto all together ?
and for the Bluetooth autoplaying bug, there an option in media player that you can turn off external device to auto play media e.g. look at the screen shot from Samsung music player.

Hi.  Yes, your first part is correct.  It keeps asking to install itself in the Secure Folder.  As to Android Auto, I very much use it.  I like it a lot.  It took three or more years of BMW first saying they would never support it, then saying it's coming, it's coming, it's ready, it's ready.  And last Fall, it was finally pushed out.  It was one of the first versions that works without needing to be plugged into the car (before Google even pushed that feature).  About the only thing that keeps it from being a perfectly pleasing experience is this damned prompt I always get.

Hi, If you choose app permissions as "Allow only this time" or "Allow only while using the app", each feature may not work properly. Please change app permission to Always on the following paths: Settings> Apps> Select an app> Permissions > Select "Always allow".

Hi.  I assume you're referring to the Android Auto application. The only permission with restriction is Location, which is set to "Only while app is in use."  I'll try changing that and see if it makes a difference.  Secure Folder is already allowed to use all of its permission at any time.
