This might be a bit of a long one but the short version is I was trying to invite my kid to my smartthing as a member and it says we are not the same region. I checked both out accounts and we are both set to Canada. I'm so confused as to what could be the issue.

Here is the longer version, this all started when i bought the smart tags 2 and set them up on my smartthing account, i realized that when my kid took the home keys it just showed the last location of where i dropped him off. He had a field trip and was surprised that the location did not update throughout the entire day. Upon further investigation, I found my "Samsung Find" account displayd my devices but not the smart tags under the "items" tab whereas the Smartthings app and find functionality shows my devices AND the smart tags 2. I called Samsung and was able to reach a manager who understood the problem and said they will investigate further and will call me back in 24hours, its been 2 months and nothing. Anyways, I attempted to investigate again last night by maybe inviting my kid and them having access to devices but then I got that we are not in the same region which I checked and we are. so not sure what is going on and if it is related to why my tags aren't working properly with my account.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Do you both have Canadian version phones? I was able to add my US account using a Canadian phone, but when I use my Canadian account on my Chinese version phone, I was unable to join the family created by my Canadian account. I am not sure if that is the reason. If you both have Canadian models, I think it is worth trying to create another Canadian account to see if that works.

That's a good question. Mine for sure is cause I bought it from Samsung CA, my kid's most likely as well 90% sure since I bought it from a CA government organization. The only thing I can think of is that my account was Samsung Acc was created outside CA but since I moved here i reached out to Samsung and they did change the region. I'll try creating another account and see how what happens.

So I did some more testing and my kid's account registers the smarttag2 and shows up in Samsung Find as an item. So this narrows the problem down to my Samsung account. Thanks Golden 🙏

Hi Mummified,
Thanks for the update, and great job narrowing it down — that’s really helpful insight! We recommend reaching out to Samsung Account Support directly so they can review your account's backend region and feature configuration, especially since your child’s account is functioning correctly with SmartTag2 in Samsung Find.

You can also submit feedback through the Samsung Members app under:
Support > Send Feedback > Error Reports > Samsung Account or SmartThings

Let us know how it goes — we’re here to help if you need anything else!

Hi Helenna, I did reach out to Samsung Account support last night and have created a case.

That being said they tried to push me off to Smartthings Support but I insisted that it was an account issue. Your assessment makes sense that it may be a backend region issue.

In any case they told me to wait for 48 to 72 hours and they will get in touch. I'll update this when I hear back.
