I left my car in the parking lot with the key and the tag in the car. While I was away, the app showed the car in different locations from the parking lot. For four days, and three days with no movement. When I asked the staff, they said nobody touched the car. Is it possible? The app showed up to a 20 km radius for the movement.

Yes, that's how it works, but the Samsung device can ping the tag in the Bluetooth range, which is about 120 m or 400 ft.

Hi 33HMP33,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. This may be due to a temporary technical glitch. We kindly request you to restart the tag and try refreshing the SmartThings app, checking your phone's battery saving settings and ensuring "Allow all the time" is enabled for location permissions and check.

How do the battery settings on my phone affect the pings from other Samsung devices?

Good question! Battery settings on your Samsung device may influence the reception of pings from other Samsung devices by indirectly affecting background application activity and network connectivity. Power-saving features and battery optimization settings can restrict background processes, which may result in delayed or missed communications between devices.

Power-intensive features such as background location services and continuous data usage are often regulated by Battery Optimization and Power Saving Mode. These settings may delay or inhibit the transmission of 'pings' or signals from other devices, thereby affecting timely communication or synchronization with your phone.

I was away from the tag, thousands of miles away.
