SmartthingsHi MrBizradley,
To stop Samsung SmartThings from continuously attempting to connect to your neighbor's light strip, you can take the following steps:
Forget or Block the Device in SmartThings:
- Open the SmartThings app on your device.
- Navigate to the Devices tab.
- Locate the neighbor's light strip in the list (it may appear as an unknown device or with a generic name).
- Tap the device and look for an option to Remove or Forget Device. Confirm the action.
Disable Device Scanning for New Devices:
- Open the SmartThings app.
- Go to Settings (usually found under the three-dot menu or gear icon).
- Look for an option like Device Scanning or Allow New Device Connections.
- Disable this setting to stop automatic attempts to connect to nearby devices.
Adjust the Hub's Network Range:
- If you're using a SmartThings hub, consider repositioning it so that its range doesn't overlap with your neighbor's devices.
- Alternatively, use the app to configure a smaller coverage area or reduce the sensitivity of the hub, if supported.
Adjust the Hub's Network Range:
- Open the SmartThings app and check the Automations or Routines tab.
- Ensure there are no automations or routines that might be triggering an attempt to connect to your neighbor’s device.
These steps should help prevent SmartThings from attempting to connect to devices that you don’t own or control.
Thank you.
