Solutions & TipsHi Anderson199214,
Great question! The "Optimized" setting under app battery usage is the default mode for most apps in One UI. It allows the system to manage background activity intelligently — balancing performance and battery life. Apps still function normally, but unnecessary background activity is limited to conserve power.
-
Optimized – System-managed background usage (best balance for most users)
-
Restricted – Limits background activity to save more battery (may affect notifications or updates)
-
Unrestricted – No background limitations (ideal for essential apps but uses more battery)
You’ll typically see most apps set to “Optimized” by default, including on demo devices like the Z Fold 7. If you notice issues like delayed notifications, it may help to switch a specific app to “Unrestricted.”
