closing SM-P610

This sounds crazy.  I just purchased my SM-P610 yesterday.  I do not know how close it.

Bernie(?) Keeps coming up and I want to close using side button. I only have 47% left.

If you mean power off your Tab S6 Lite.

Press and hold the side key for few seconds and the power off icon will show on the screen. Click power off.

Follow the steps provided by Tallman, and try the below steps as well and check.

To turn off/Restart the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 lite holding down the Side(Power) and Volume Down buttons simultaneously for several seconds. Once the Power Menu appears, tap the “Power Off” or “Restart” button.

Also, Swipe down the notifications pane. There you'll see a power icon. Tap that icon and you'll see the option to power off or restart.
