One, if not my top feature on galaxy tabs, has been Dex, and the ability to plug it to my external monitor, put it away and just work on my big screen. But now it just does not work, I cannot keep my screen/dex on when I close the book cover. I have looked all over for a solution and I cannot find one, making this tablet pretty useless to me right now.
Does anyone know if there is a way to make it work now, or maybe I am the one doing something wrong.
One UI 8 introduced changes to Samsung DeX that affect how it behaves with book covers and external monitors. The issue you're facing is part of a broader shift in how DeX operates on Galaxy tablets.
Samsung has removed the classic standalone DeX desktop mode from Galaxy tablets in One UI 8. Now, DeX only offers the full desktop interface when connected to an external display. However, closing the book cover may trigger the tablet to sleep or disconnect, which interrupts DeX—even if you're using an external monitor.
This change has frustrated many users who relied on the seamless transition between tablet and monitor setups. The new version of DeX is based on Android 16’s desktop mode, and while it improves app continuity, it sacrifices some of the flexibility that made DeX so useful.
While there’s no official fix yet, here are a few things you can try:
Disable Auto-Sleep When Cover Is Closed
Go to Settings > Advanced Features > Accessories (or Cover Settings if available).
Look for an option like “Keep screen on when cover is closed”—this may be hidden or removed in One UI 8, but worth checking.
Keep the Tablet Slightly Open
If possible, leave the cover slightly ajar to prevent the sleep sensor from activating.

Dex is getting worse and worse after every update. Like the devs are never used any windows / linux computer. They just have to copy everything and thats all.
