I just bought this tablet model SM-T290.  I like it in many respects; however, it does not work well with stylus.

Before buying it, I thought that it would work well with a stylus because I have a Samsung phone SM-A205W that responds well to stylus.

I like to mark-up documents with a stylus.

But I guess the technology varies among Samsung products, because I can use stylus on my phone but not on my tablet for this purpose. I was hoping to use my tablet for this purpose since the larger screen seems better suited to mark-up documents.

After seeking support for this issue, I now realize that this is simply a limitation of this model of tablet.

It works poorly with a stylus.

Very hard to create even a very short continuous line with a stylus.

I did not expect the tablet to be as sophisticated as the s-pen models, but it is clearly not designed to work with a stylus whatsoever.

I feel like there is very little information available to users or potential purchasers about this issue. So just thought I would share with others.

Do other customers value this functionality?

I wonder whether we might expect future software upgrades that will enable this functionality by introducing touchscreen sensitivity adjustment settings for this model of tablet?

I have the same model with the same problem I am shocked why a regular capacitive stylus is bogus and does not work well the line is cut not sooth and if you try to write letters not smooth at all fin gers work fine .

Can an active stylus solve the problem?  Or it is a hardware issue that cannot be solved

I am disappointed with that

Samsung, will you please jump in here? I can't believe you are selling a tablet that doesn't work with a generic stylus, and you have absolutely no info about that in the specs.  This isn't how the Samsung I know conducts itself.  How about some help here?

Hello , I have the same problem and not using a screen protector. This is an enormous disappointment as I bought the Tab 8 to replace a 10 years old iPad mini and never had this issue with rubber  pens. I do not have  the issue on my Galaxy phone A520. Samsung need to provide a fix , this is incredible , old Samsung tablet did not had this issue . Taking notes at work is impossible and I am thinking now of selling the Tab 8 and buy anything else Huawei , Lenovo or return on Apple.
