Samsung Notes: Font sizes on tablet are DIFFERENT from the ones on phone. Please help!

I synced my Galaxy S21 FE and my Tab S9 with my Samsung account to have all my notes on both devices. However the font size of every single note on my tablet is 5 points smaller than on my phone.

For example, one note on my phone contains text with a font size of 8. On my tablet the same text will be in 3. When I change it to 8, it'll go to 13 on my phone. I love this app but this is incredibly annoying. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi, is it happening after you synced both the devices? Please check if there is any recent software update available.

You can pick a font size or style that works for you. Make the font appear small, big, or make it bold. To change your font size or style, follow the steps below.

Step 1. Launch the Settings app, and then select Display.

Step 2. Select Font size and style.

Step 3. Here you can adjust the options as desired.

  • Change the Font size by dragging the slider left or right.
  • Tap the switch next to Bold font to make the font appear bolder.
  • Tap Font style to change the current font or download a new font.

Thank you.

I've been experiencing this issue as well, and it’s unideal when collaborating with others who use both phones and tablets to edit our notes.

I also confirm I'm using the latest version of the Samsung Notes app on my Note 9 phone and S6 Lite tablet, yet the font size still decreases by 5 points when viewing notes on my phone.

While it may be tempting to just use a larger font size of 17 pts on my tablet so that the font appears as 12pts on phones, it makes the text appear excessively large on my tablet as if it was heading text instead of paragraph text.

This also creates issues when exporting notes. If someone exports a PDF from the wrong device, the font size may be either too big or too small, depending on which device was used.

Ideally, the font size should remain consistent across devices to prevent the wrong font size from being seen by teammates or used when submitting school assignments. At the very least, a settings option to disable adaptive font size would be a great improvement to Samsung Notes.

I think I may have figured out a fix to keep the font size consistent between tablets and smartphones. Try it and see if it works for you.

  1.  Add a drawing to your note
  2.  Transform the image in some way (e.g. scale it down).

It seems, so long as you have at least one transformed image present in a note, this will turn off the adaptive text scaling behaviour for that note. This was probably an intentional design decision to prevent images from losing their placement, otherwise they would be shifted around whenever the text changes size on different devices.
