Galaxy Watch 6 Clasic Modes not working.

My GW6 Classic 47 mm is about a week old.

This behavior is with a brand new Galaxy Watch 6 Classic 47 mm BT, One UI v.5.0, Software v.R960XXU1AXC2, paired with a Samsung S20 FE One UI 5.1, Android v.13

Sync modes with phone toggles itself off:

On the S20 FE, if I go to Galaxy Wearables for the GW6 > Watch Settings > Modes > I can toggle On ‘Sync modes with phone’. But if I go back to the main Wearables Settings menu, then go back into Modes, ‘Sync modes with phone’ has toggled itself off. It’s not staying toggled On.  

Related / corollary problem: Modes on the GW6 do not turn on.

If I use the pull-down menu on the GW6, and select the icon for Modes > then Sleep, it gives the initial Sleep animated icon for a few seconds

then exits out back to the main watch face, without turning on Sleep Mode on the GW6.

However, it turns on Sleep Mode on the S20 FE phone, even though, as mentioned previously, Sync modes with phone is toggled off in Galaxy Wearables, and the GW6 has given no prompt to turn on Sleep Mode on the phone.

Similar behavior happens for Theater Mode on the GW6. On the GW6 using the drop down, then the Modes icon > then Theater Mode, it doesn’t turn on Theater Mode on the GW6 watch. Instead, it gives a prompt to Continue on the S20 FE phone. Then going to the phone, it has opened the Theater Mode menu with the blue prompt to Turn on Theater mode on the phone, which just turns on Theater Mode on the phone, not the watch.

So the drop-down Mode icon on the GW6 just becomes a convoluted way to turn on Modes on the phone.

What is happenign here to cause this problem, and how do I solve it?

Hi Members_Ui3qk8b,

Sorry to hear that your'e having issue with your Galaxy Watch6.

Have you tried to restart both the devices and also please unpair and repair the watch with the phone and see if it helps.

It's working now. I did several things.

I checked for Software updates on the watch and phone, and the phone offered a security update for OneUI 5.1. Then I re-started both devices. Then I checked for updates in G Play store and Galaxy Store. The Galaxy Store offered an update for Modes ... something like [T Os] Modes. That is what finally did it. 

I am now able to ‘Sync modes with phone’ On and Off normally and each device respects the toggled setting. Sleep and Theater Modes now turn on and off normally on the GW6, and respect whatever is toggled (On or Off) in Galaxy Wearables for the GW6 > Watch Settings > Modes
