ok the ps4 controller connects via bluetooth to my samsung galaxy a5 android version 8 but does work on it shows its connected but does not work.

Please try to Unpair and Pair the Ps4 Controller to the phone and also check if it works with an alternate phone.

I have been dealing with the same issue for some time now. I have tried pairing and unpairing multiple times and the device works perfectly on other devices I have.
