If you currently are subscribed with any Canadian carrier, you are likely being told that your phone is not "supported" for this feature.  Wifi calling....

This cannot be further from the truth.

Samsung has a unique and simple design built within their Android builds known as Country Sales Code or CSC. This portion of your device is used to set up your phone to work in different regions all over the world. This allows for greater flexibility of a particular device, especially the A5 2017. Besides network settings, it will also allow edits on certain phones that is legal in one country, or illegal in another such as the camera shutter or call recording built into the dialer.

Samsung built EVERY A5 the same. So, it means you can change your A5 into any other country and get the exact experience. You will void the warranty and are also able to damage it beyond repair if you attempt any modifications.

Now if they are all the same, why did Samsung sell a phone in Canada with no FM tuner? This is not entirely true. If you install F variant software, you will get full use of your tuner. So did the CRTC make fm radio illegal? No. Did Samsung pick on us? Of course not! Somebody had to TELL them to leave it out. I will leave it up to you, but it also means that somebody is deciding a little too much how your phone is used when you purchase it.

My carrier, Virgin, informed me that Samsung was responsible for wifi calling. Turns out they built my A5 2017 to support this feature. If you call your carrier, demand that they do not discriminate and simply disallow wifi calling for one reason: buy a phone you don't need. They've been doing it for years. Somebody at Samsung has had enough carrier manipulation. If you do a factory data reset, you are informed of wifi calling capability. Samsung did not tell you by mistake. Let's get our radio back, our phone as Samsung intended, and make Canadian carriers tell the consumer all requested modifications. They also do even more restrictions on phones XAC when you purchase outside of their company.

The gig is up. The A5 project was a brilliant way to free you from carrier restrictions and manipulation. Just so you know, this is not at all based on anything from Samsung. No Samsung employee told me this. This is my story about the silent war and my interpretation. Thank you Samsung. You can say thank you as well by calling your carrier and don't just listen to me. The truth is in the palm of your hands.

I live in B.C., use Koodo, work in a remote camp and can no longer contact the outside world cause my phone dosnt have the VoLTE ir wifi calling option. Koodo says Samsung makes special phones for them BULL SHAT, and ssmsung says my area "United Arab Emirates" dosnt have that option in that part of the world. What do U do now. I got screwed by Samsung/dung
