Hello, I have had my A51 for about a week and the WiFi speed is horrendous. I have searched online and read community posts and nothing works to improve my speed. I have the Canadian version of the phone and some past suggestions such as changing the frequency band the phone is using is not available to me in my settings.

If I try to watch a video from YouTube, after a minute the video quality goes to the worst possible and the video will start buffering often. When I perform speed tests, I receive rates of between between 3-35 mbps on a 150mbps download speed connection.

I have looked at other devices in my home which use the same wifi network and this is the ONLY device with issues. This includes testing two other Samsung phones (S9+ and S10) which have 0 problems!

Even worse still, we use Google Home WiFi and can see through Googles app the speed of the connection being used by the phone in real time, yet the phone itself is performing horribly. I have reset network settings, turned off Bluetooth and mobile data, deleted my cache and don't know what else to do but I am considering asking for a refund next week if something doesn't change quickly.

Ugh that's horrible 🤦
If everything else is working ok and just not that, you could backup anything you need with smartswitch onto a computer (if you need anything saved) or if the data is small enough you can just make sure everything is synced in the cloud. then do a factory reset of the device. If that don't help and you've restarted router and everything else works, Id taker back 🙃✌️

Hey @shaunese,

Sorry to hear that, As mentioned by @mytechPlease try to Factory data reset your phone.

Before performing the factory data reset, please backup your device using the Smart Switch and perform a factory reset.
Follow the below steps:
Press Power Button to  Turn off your Galaxy A51 >> Now, Press Volume Down+Power Button  For 10 to 15 Seconds >> You will See Recovery mode on your mobile screen >> Use Volume button select “recovery ” to confirm by pressing the power button >> Select Wipe Data three times to confirm the Power Button >> After that Select Ok  To Clear all your data to confirm press by the power button >> After that Back to confirm it by the power button >> From recovery mode select “reboot system”.
It will Hard Reset your A51 Mobile.
Note: The factory reset makes the device function again in a new form. This will restore your smartphone to its original manufacturer settings.

hi all thank you for the replies. I did a factory reset this morning and once it was set back up the WiFi speed was excellent (141mbps). I went to the grocery store and came home and the speed started having issues. As an FYI, we had gone through restarting the router and going through our WiFi settings, but given that this is the only device in the household that is complaining before and after we did this, I am pretty convinced it must be the A51.

I powered phone off and then back on, amazing speed (90mbps) and within 30 minutes its awful. current speed tests are showing 3-5mbps. I just received a notification that the phone switched to my LTE data because the WiFi could not provide internet access. Unbelievable!

I don't know what else to do. I am a pretty light user... I don't have games, or social media. A couple of instant messaging apps to talk to friends and family and basic apps like Wikipedia, YouTube etc.

very disappointed because I like everything else about the device, but if I can't stream a short YouTube video, I might as well not have a smartphone.

Hi shaunese, I request you to check with the place of purchase of the phone for further options as you got the phone a week ago. If you require service options, please refer below link to find the nearest Samsung service center so that the technician will examine the phone to check the root cause of the issue.

Well, I´m having the exact connectivity issues.

Tried to reset network settings, and for a while, it worked. One hour later the connection speed on my phone was terrible again. Same as you, all other gadgets continue to read high speed through wifi.

It is not router, nor modem, nor the frequency of the band (I tried both available on my router).

I was thinking of doing a hard reset, but i´m pretty sure it won´t fix the problem, as it hadn´t fixed yours, since the description of your problems are incredibly equal as mine.

Sounds like you did everything
Factory reset device
Restarted modem (I'd look more into the modem if other things had connectivity issues)
Myself I would probably return it and try a new device, this is not normal behaviour 🤦

DO NOT OPEN THAT LINK or you will be flooded with ads and might even get pop-up ads on your phone all the time. I repeat, DO NOT OPEN THAT LINK. This person is only trying to make money from S Members with stolen content. Don't reward this shameful behavior.

My opinion is the phone is cutting power to save battery. I have the same problem. also of note on YouTube going horizontal seems to cause more buffering. If it gets stuck buffering even at 240p if I go vertical the buffering stops
