Hello Samsung. I have the (4G version) of the A71. I switched to Google messages as requested and RCS was working fine Until..
I switched cellular carriers & ported my old phone number, now i cannot get RCS to work at all!

The carrier Chatr in Canada does support RCS. I have taken ALL steps Google recommends to troubleshoot the Google messages app and gone as far as wiping my phone to factory. I have no idea where the problem resides.

The RCS status in Google messages starts with this message..

THEN eventually changes to this message.

I have bought a replacement SIM card, it made no difference.

What is the model number of your device, ie: SM-xxxxx?

Which Carrier were you with when RCS was working?

Hi,

Thanks for sharing that! The SM-A715W is the Canadian variant of the Galaxy A71 (4G model), so it's fully compatible with carriers like Public Mobile and others operating in Canada. If you’ve recently switched carriers and are experiencing issues with RCS or other network features, here are a few steps you can take to resolve this:

Verify Carrier Support for RCS. Please ensure your current carrier supports RCS messaging. Some carriers may have limitations or require specific configurations for RCS to function.

Here are a few tips for RCS and network-related troubleshooting:

Clear App Cache and Enable Chat Features. Open Google Messages > Tap the 3-dot menu (top-right) > Settings > Chat Features. If it says "Setting up," try the following: Clear Messages app cache: Settings > Apps > Messages > Storage > Clear Cache. Toggle Airplane mode on/off. Restart your device. Retry enabling Chat Features.

If RCS still doesn’t work, perform network reset. Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset network settings. This will reset Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile data configurations but won't delete personal data.

That is really strange..

Did you try Uninstalling Google Messages & Reinstalling it?

If Google Messages is a System App on your device, uninstall all updates, reboot & Reinstall and test.

I have even tried factory reset. There's nothing i can do to enable the RCS feature. The app messages in RCS Chats status in Google messages are neither accurate or helpful. I feel the problem is at the carrier level as RCS was enabled and showed as connected before I switched carriers. SMS still works fine, so looks like I'll be using that instead.

Even though Chartr supports RCS, I think that you might be right, the issue is with your Carrier.

I don't know if Chartr is like some issues with Rogers, where if you didn't purchase the device from them, not all features were available.

* UPDATE - RCS is now working. it seems the carrier fixed the issue. I was sending SMS and noticed the change happened on its own.1744424574757.jpg
