High mobile data usage

On my android 10 phone I get a high mobile data usage warning for specific app that the data usage has barley changed.  The total usage has changed only by 3 MB. 
How is the high data usage calculated ?

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. Please make sure that the app is updated to the latest version. Then uninstall and reinstall the app on your device.
If the problem persists, please perform the clear cache and clear data of the app.

Important: Clearing the data will reset the app to factory default settings. Any personal settings saved on the app will be removed.

From Settings, swipe to and tap Apps. Select the app you want to clear. Tap Storage, and then tap Clear cache and Clear data.

That was done already and their is no upgrade.
