I'm looking at the new models of Samsung A series coming out A23 and even the A22 and A225g. None of them have NFC? Why is this? My previous two Samsung phones had NFC. Why this backtrack on NFC? Is this a feature that Samsung is only keeping for M and S series? I'm confused because NFC is set to get major usage as payment means diversify.

I'm going to take a stab at this to give a different perspective.  Mind you I'm no expert.  I'm guessing that since the A series are entry level, budget phones which is likely targeted towards consumers who are just starting to use a smartphone, like the younger generation who are in school.  Perhaps, being that, they aren't likely the ones who are actually paying for the phones themselves, but their parents.  So in the point of view of a parent who is getting a phone for his son or daughter for the first time, imagine how scary it would be to allow his kid to be able to use the phone to pay for all sorts of stuff that he/she can simply tap to pay.  Or, as many parents would discover as a nightmare scenario, that their kid lost their phone with that NFC capability.  So it's a double whammy of a lost phone but potentially one that could be nightmarish scenario of having a bank account drained of its savings as well. But of course, it's also likely the Samsung doesn't want to spend the money to have NFC support for a low budget, entry level phone.

I am just guessing.  Yes, I agree that we are heading towards a cashless society where we are simply tapping for practically every purchase but in some ways, having a less smart phone isn't so bad.
