Galaxy AMy friend has replaced his Galaxy A21 phone with a Galaxy A33. We are both quite elderly, and not too experienced with mobiles. The A21 works fine, and he is keeping it as a backup. I have transferred all data from the A21 to the A33. Everything seems fine apart from one problem. He uses Outlook mail, and also has a Google account email. When he opens the Outlook mail app on his A21, it goes straight to Inbox. When he opens the Outlook mail app on the A33, it is showing his Google email, and asking for a new account. I have entered his Outlook mail address, and it says address already exists. No matter how I try, I cannot get it to work. He knows his Google account password, but has forgot his Outlook mail password. When I try to unsubscribe an email on his Outlook mail on his A21, it refers to his Google account email, which I cannot understand. I would be grateful for any help.

Galaxy AHi Greenveg,
It seems like the Outlook app on the new Galaxy A33 is prioritizing the Google account, and the Outlook account isn’t set up correctly due to the forgotten password.
Please try to recover the forgotten password via the "Forgot password" option. You’ll need access to the recovery email or phone number tied to the Outlook account.
On the A33, open the Outlook app, go to Settings and remove the Google account. After that, add the Outlook account using the recovered password.
Once the Outlook account is added on the A33, make sure it’s set as the default email account.
This should fix the issue of Outlook asking for a new account and prioritize the correct inbox.
Thank you.

Galaxy AThank you for your reply. I have done as you have suggested, and completely removed the Google account. When I open the Outlook app on the A33, and select "Forgot password", a screen appears showing Text **********9. I assume that this is a phone number. If it is , it must be an old number that my friend no longer has, so I am still struggling. I have noticed that I cannot search Play store without a Google account. Can you have a Google account without a Google email, as that would take me back to square one.

Galaxy AThe moderator did not mean for you to remove the Google account from the phone. You were to just remove the Google account from the Outlook app. You need to add the Google account back to the phone.
If your friend is using Outlook only for email I suggest you uninstall Outlook and install Outlook Lite instead. It uses less of the phone's resources and does everything needed for email.
If your friend no longer has access to the recovery phone number you need to see if there is another recovery option for the Outlook password. If you can get the password issue sorted then the first time you run the Outlook Lite app touch ADD AN ACCOUNT and enter the Outlook email address and password. Do not touch CREATE AN ACCOUNT, that is to create a new Outlook account.

Galaxy AI have been on the Microsoft recovery website to recover hIs password. I have started to fill in the questions, and one section asks for email addresses he has sent to. His Sent box is empty, he never sends emails, he just receives them. As I have nothing to put in these boxes, it will not let me contnue. On checking, his Google account has not been removed, it is still active. If he installs Outlook Lite, would he have to have a new email address.

Galaxy AIf you can't recover his Microsoft password then I don't know of any way to transfer his Outlook email to Outlook Lite on the A33. In that case he will have to keep accessing his Outlook on the A21. You say he never sends emails, he just receives them. Are the emails he receives important? Can you contact the senders and get the emails sent to a new email address?
You can install Outlook Lite on the A33 and touch CREATE AN ACCOUNT and set up a new email address, then have all his emails sent to the new address. If the Google account is still active on the A33 then you should be able to install Outlook lite from the Google Play store.

Galaxy AI have sent him an email from my yahoo mail address, and another from my Gmail address. He can then send me emails to these two addresses which I can then enter in the recovery page. Hopefully this may be enough to continue with the password recovery.

Galaxy AMy friend has had an email saying password has been changed, but he does not know what the password is. When he opens OuIook now, it asks him to sign in, but he cannot as he does not know the new password. I have been on Microsoft chat, and they say to check his Inbox. How can he check his Inbox when he cannot sign in. I have told chat this, and they keep referring me to Howly to recover the password. They want £24 for this service which my friend is not prepared to pay. I have told the chat that this is a Microsoft issue, but they just refer me to Howly. He cannot open Outlook mail at all, even on his A21. I am totally brassed off with Microsoft. Is this chat thing the only way to converse with them. I think the only way is to have a different email server. I know that this is a pain as you have to inform eveybody of the new address. Can you recommend a good alternative.

Galaxy AIn the email your friend received there was either a temporary password or a method to set their own password. Maybe your friend didn't understand what to do and now has lost access on the A21. Howly is a service to help people who are not technically savvy. That's why Microsoft referred you to them.
Try this: On a web browser go to https://www.microsoft.com/ . At the upper right click on "Sign in". Enter your friend's Outlook email address and click "Next". At this point you may be given a chance to set a new password. If not, click on "Forgot password?". From there see if there are any workable options.
Failing that, you can try going through the same recovery process you went through before on the Microsoft recovery website.
Failing that, I guess your friend has no choice but to create a new email account and, as you say, inform everybody of the new address.
