So, back in May 2021... my A71 died and it cost me about $300 to bring it back to life from the nearest repair shop.

Since then, I have not been able to use the fingerprints option. Trying to add pops up a message saying that the sensor needs calibrated.

Samsung won't even look at it since it wasn't repaired by them. What do I do?

I'd go back to the shop where you had the original repair done. Maybe they'll even calibrate it for free?

Hi VJohnston, we request you to kindly visit the service center for physical inspection of your device.

That's a great suggestion, but I've already been to a Samsung shop and mentioned this. They said because it's been repaired by a 3rd party, that they won't even look at it.

And going back to the 3rd party repair shop isn't the best suggestion yet, at least I read that Samsung already told you that they won't look at, because you had it worked on BY a 3rd party shop lol

That's what I said, and it's what the rep said at the Samsung store. I was in the middle of a move when it basically died from water damage. Where was I supposed to go? 3rd party was much closer than an official shop.

The 3rd party shop is no longer close by. They are in East York. I am in Richmond Hill. So as you said, not the best suggestion... but it's better than nothing. Going to a different 3rd party repair shop might be a waste of time since they don't k ow what initially happened.

I honestly think this is a lost cause at this point.
Here's why: I went to a shop near me and asked about this. The person said they didn't want to lie to me saying that only Samsung has the ability to fix this if anyone. So if they won't even look at it, it's a lost cause.
