Galaxy AI have this configured on my older A51, but I can't seem to find the setting location to configure a new A53 5G.
So after the security PIN is entered, putting the screen to sleep, there is a configurable window of time where the screen can be awakened without re-entering the PIN.

Galaxy A"Should be: Settings > Display > Screen Time Out."
The Screen Timout is Not the timeout for the PIN access.
There is another setting.
The screen timeout can be set to 2 minutes, you put the phone to sleep, and reopen it in 5 seconds and it is locked requiring the PIN.

Galaxy ASOLVED!
Under Settings, Lock Screen, Secure Lock Settings,
1. 'Auto lock when screen turns off' must be set to desired setting, ie. 1 Min, 2 min.
2. 'Lock instantly with Side key' must be OFF
Then putting the phone to sleep, and waking before the end of the step 1 setting will awaken to previous screen without PIN entry.
