FN + F9 should turn the keyboard backlight On & Off, but check in the Settings of your Book 4 Edge.

Hi Members_UlMmVbw,

Your Galaxy Book4 Edge likely has a backlit keyboard, but enabling it may require the Samsung Settings app. If Fn + F9 dims the screen instead of activating the backlight, your system may need a software update or configuration.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and enable the keyboard backlight:

  1. Confirm Backlight Support

    • If your model has the backlight icon on the F9 key, it should support keyboard illumination.

    • However, if pressing Fn + F9 dims the screen instead, this may indicate the system is not recognizing the backlight function.

  2. Install or Update Samsung Settings

    • The Samsung Settings app is required to control hardware features like keyboard backlight.

    • Visit Samsung's  Support page download or update the app.

    • Once installed, open the app and look for the Keyboard Backlight section to adjust brightness.

  3. Check Samsung Update Utility

    • Open Samsung Update from your Start menu.

    • Install any pending updates, especially firmware or driver packages related to keyboard and system utilities.

  4. Try Adjusting Brightness in Samsung Settings

    • Some users have reported success by toggling the backlight off and on again within the Samsung Settings app.

    • After doing this, the Fn + F9 key may begin working as expected.

  5. BIOS Settings (Advanced)

    • Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F2 or Del during boot).

    • Look for any settings related to keyboard backlight and ensure it’s enabled.

  6. Contact Support if Issue Persists

    • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, your device may require a service check to confirm hardware functionality.
