My girlfriend and I are unable to get our chat messages working. It was working fine the other day and then suddenly stopped. We've cleared cache, ensured it's enabled, everything. I'm using a Galaxy Note 20 and she's using the Galaxy S20. When I open up my options for my chat with her, it has "Chat Messages" with the slider being OFF. When I slide it back on it shows as on but as soon as I leave that screen, it turns off again.

Any resolution for this?

Edit: It appears to work with a coworker of mine, just not my girlfriend. The slider continually just ignores my change and stays off.

Why don't you just use SMS instead?

SMS does not provide delivered/sent/read/typing notifications

Sounds like you are both using Samsung's Messaging app?

Try downloading Google Messages & then make it your Default Messaging app (you won't lose any messages).

Ultimately it appears that Samsung is going to replace Samsung Messages with Google Messages anyway.

Open Google Messages Settings & Toggle ON Chat Features. It may take a few minutes to verify your number, & then you'll see "connected" in green.

In either case it could be a Network issue.

Really disappointed with that since I'm not an overly huge fan of Google... But we ended up getting it working. The slider wouldn't stay stuck for either of us but we both tried it at the exact same time and it did stick for some reason. Weird issue but glad to see its fixed. Thanks for the prompt response

I had reached out to my service provider and they advised it was a Samsung issue so to reach out to Samsung (After some trouble shooting). Sad to see companies pass the buck to each other.

Regardless, issue is resolved now.

You were able to resolve the issue with Samsung's Messaging, or with Google Messages?

Either way, good to hear it's solved 👍
